Welcome to your first official Ms. Marvel News post! We thought this format would be better for sharing this information with you than tweets, because well, there’s a lot to unpack here.

If this rumor ends up being true, then there are going to be a LOT of potential spoilers for the upcoming Ms. Marvel Disney+ series. So, read at your own risk! Let’s get into it.

In the original Ms. Marvel comics, the mantle of Red Dagger (or, in Urdu, Laal Khanjeer) was helmed by a young man named Kareem from Karachi, Pakistan. Kamala Khan met him while visiting her family abroad, in Ms. Marvel (2015) #12, and they developed an instant connection.

When they later teamed up for the first time in Jersey City, Red Dagger revealed to Ms. Marvel his origin story. Having witnessed the injustices taking place in his community, and wanting to do something about it, he taught himself martial arts via YouTube tutorials in order to become a costumed vigilante.

According to our source, the MCU’s Red Dagger will have a drastically different history than his comics counterpart.

For starters, there are going to be multiple Red Daggers of Pakistan who will play a key role in the second half of the show. They will be portrayed by some of the Bollywood and/or Pakistani actors who are in the cast, like Farhan Akhtar and Alyy Khan.

The character that Aramis Knight portrays, of course, will be part of the group, too, but his name will be Imran instead of Kareem (kinda rhymes with Kamran, doesn’t it? 👀.) In this adaptation, his connection to Kamala will be more of a friendship, rather than a romance like in the comics. Kamala’s connection to the Kamran (portrayed by Rish Shah), however, will remain romantic.
